The Community Group is the heart of the 300 Hour YTT and a true support to our teaching community.

36 Hours each year or included in the 300 YTT

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this teacher's community group we meet one Friday a month for 12 months to discuss Yoga philosophy as it applies to modern life,  practice, teach, give, and receive peer feedback.

Each monthly community group begins with a one hour practice taught by one of our teachers and themed around the reading from that month. This is an opportunity to teach in a safe and supportive space or practice an aspect of teaching that is new to you amidst peers.

This is followed by teacher reflections and peer feedback. The last hour is an ethical  discussion based on reading and homework which were assigned the month prior. Teachers  engage in conversations and explorations about bringing Yoga to life, and how to live and teach ethically and authentically.

There are 12 spaces to teach and receive peer feedback, and 8 spaces to participate through feedback and peer review (without teaching).

Hour One-

One Teacher instructs class based on the readings and we practice as a group

Hour Two-

10 minutes to fill out feedback form

50 minutes- instructor reflection/intent, peer feedback

Hour Three-

Discuss Yoga Philosophy from this month's chapters in small discussion and then in full group

The Community Group is live-streamed and recorded and all members receive access to the group's online library as well as the Community Feed where we connect to share resources, teachers upload their documents and playlists, and we ask and answer questions outside of class.

12:30-5:30pm

Knowledge of Anatomy is one of the most important gifts you can give yourself as a yoga teacher, and perhaps the most underrated.  A fundamental understanding of anatomy is essential to being an effective yoga teacher.  It will enhance both your teaching and your own practice.

In this module I hope to provide a greater understanding of what your body is actually doing as your practice the asanas, anatomically speaking.  We will highlight which muscles need to be engaged and which need to be relaxed or stretching to achieve proper alignment in each asana.

We will take it asana by asana and get tuned in to what we are actually doing with our bodies in the posture.  We will cover how the big joints are moving and which muscles have to contract or lengthen to make this happen.

Remember, as yoga teachers, if you are going to tell folks how to move their bodies, then you should know how the body moves.

Module Five-Bhagavad Gita with Kelly Solloway

5 hours
Schedule:
  Saturday October 18th, 2025

12:30-5:30pm

5 CEUs or Included in 300 YTT

The Bhagavad Gita is considered one of the sacred texts of Hinduism and also of Yoga. There have been many translations and commentaries going back at least a millennium and up to this very day. With all that has been written on this relatively small piece of text, it becomes apparent that a lot is packed in to it. It takes place on the battlefield, just before the fight is to start. It is here Arjuna asks Krishna to tell him what to do, as he is at a loss and does not want to fight. What follow are the most sacred teachings of Yoga from Krishna himself. The Bhagavad Gita is found within the Mahabharata, a voluminous text. The Gita itself consists of only 700 verses divided into 18 chapters. In this session we will first set the scene on the battlefield and then make our way through the entire text. We will discuss the main themes of the text including Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga as the paths to Moksha (supreme joy).

Required Text:  We encourage you to read it before the class, but this is not a requirement. Please bring any and all copies you may have of the Bhagavad Gita.

Module Eight- The Stories Behind the Asanas with Kelly Solloway

5 CEUs or Included in 300 YTT

Schedule: Saturday, Feb 21, 2026

12:30-5:30pm

The Yoga tradition is rich in stories which have survived the ages. Many of the postures we practice today are steeped in history and can be traced back the ancient stories of the Hindu gods, Vedic sages and sacred animals of India.

In this workshop we will hear the stories behind the asana, and then practice the asana inspired by the legend, to discover what each story can teach us as we practice the posture. Much like using a prop to help us accomplish a particular posture, being aware of the inspiration behind the posture can add a deeper dimension as we practice. For instance, most practitioners are aware that Hanumanasana (the Split) is named after the Hindu monkey god Hanuman, but few may know how the determination of Hanuman and his loyalty to Ram has inspired the posture.

Module Nine- Subtle Body

22 CEUs

Schedule:
TBD, Winter of 2026

In this transformative course, you will learn how to align with the subtle body by integrating energy tools, meditation practices, pranayama (breathing techniques), and mantras into your daily life and teaching practice. This module is designed to empower you with practical techniques to not only care for yourself but also offer profound tools for stress reduction, emotional balance, and self-reflection to your students.

By engaging with these practices, you will develop a deeper understanding of the energetic systems within the body and how they influence both your physical and emotional well-being. This knowledge will help you guide your students to greater balance, clarity, and peace, both on and off the mat.

Key Skills and Techniques You Will Learn:

  • Setting Boundaries to Protect Your Energy
As a teacher, it's vital to maintain clear boundaries so that you can care for others without feeling drained or taking on their emotional or energetic burdens. This course will provide you with the tools to establish and maintain strong energetic boundaries, ensuring you can give from a place of abundance rather than depletion. You’ll learn how to energetically protect yourself while remaining open and compassionate to others.

  • Building a Sustainable Meditation Practice
Meditation can be one of the most powerful practices for self-care, but many people struggle to maintain a regular routine. In this course, we’ll explore various meditation techniques, helping you find a practice that not only supports you but is so nourishing that you crave it every day. You'll learn how to incorporate mindfulness and meditation into your life in a way that feels accessible, grounding, and deeply fulfilling.

  • Breathing Techniques & Pranayama for Balance
Breathing is a powerful tool to regulate the nervous system, calm the mind, and create balance in the body. You will explore various pranayama techniques that help balance your brain and nervous system, reduce stress, and create mental clarity. These practices will also be tools you can teach your students to support their own well-being.

  • Releasing Stagnant Energy
Many of us hold on to energy that no longer serves us, which can leave us feeling weighed down and stuck in repetitive patterns. Through energetic tools, visualization, and breathwork, you will learn how to release this stagnant energy, allowing you to move forward from a more clear, grounded, and rejuvenated place.

  • Calling Back Your Own Energy
We often give our energy away—whether through our work, relationships, or emotional labor—leaving us feeling depleted. You will learn how to call back your energy, reclaiming your own life force to restore balance and vitality. This practice will allow you to show up as your fullest, most vibrant self, both in your personal life and in your teaching.

  • Holding Space for Meditation
As a teacher, learning how to hold space for meditation is an essential skill. You will practice creating a supportive and safe environment for your students to enter into deep states of meditation. You will also learn the nuances of guiding students through different types of meditation techniques, helping them access inner stillness and clarity.

By the end of this course, you will feel confident in your ability to use energetic tools, meditation, pranayama, and mantras to support yourself and your students in reducing stress, increasing clarity, and creating a more balanced, energized life. You will have a deeper understanding of how to align with your subtle body, cultivate a sustainable meditation practice, and hold space for transformative experiences both for yourself and in your teaching.

Required Text (Included):
Each participant will receive a comprehensive manual that outlines the tools, techniques, and practices covered in this module. The manual will serve as an invaluable resource as you continue to deepen your personal practice and share these teachings with others.

  • Applying What You’ve Learned in a Real-World Setting:

Module Eleven- Advanced Postures

22 CEUs

Schedule: TBA, Spring/Fall of 2026

In this module, we will dive into advanced variations of postures and transitions, exploring the deeper layers of arm balances, binds, backbends, forward bends, and standing poses. The goal of this course is to equip you with the knowledge and tools to not only understand these advanced poses but also integrate them into your teaching with clarity and confidence. Whether you're refining your personal practice or preparing to guide students through more complex postures, this module will help you understand how to approach these postures safely and intelligently, while also focusing on sequencing that supports students’ progress.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this module, you will have a deeper understanding of advanced postures, including how to:

  • Understand Advanced Postures:
Gain a more thorough understanding of the anatomical, physiological, and biomechanical aspects of advanced asanas, such as arm balances, binds, backbends, forward bends, and balancing poses. This will include experiential anatomy and an exploration of the component parts of each pose, helping you recognize how to engage and align the body for safety and effectiveness in these more challenging poses.

  • Intelligent Sequencing for Advanced Poses:
Learn how to sequence intelligently to prepare students for more advanced poses by gradually building strength, flexibility, and awareness. You’ll understand how to structure classes in a way that progressively warms up the body, develops the necessary skills, and encourages confidence to approach advanced postures.

  • Modifications & Variations for Accessibility:
Recognize that not all students will be able to access advanced poses immediately, so you'll learn how to provide modifications and variations that can make these poses more accessible, while still challenging the student in a safe, aligned manner. Whether through a different approach or a different intensity, you will learn how to offer tools for students at varying levels of ability.

  • Prop Use for Alignment and Support:
Props are essential tools for making advanced postures more accessible and helping students maintain proper alignment. You’ll explore how to use props, such as blocks, straps, bolsters, and blankets, to support students in achieving optimal alignment and to guide them toward more advanced variations. Additionally, props can help students practice aligned actions safely and effectively while building strength and mobility at their own pace.

  • Incorporate Advanced Poses into Your Classes:
With the understanding gained in this module, you’ll be able to incorporate advanced poses and transitions into your classes in a way that feels natural and accessible. You will also have the background to safely guide students through these postures, teaching them not only how to move into the poses, but how to approach them with mindfulness, alignment, and intentionality. Whether in your personal practice or while teaching, you’ll be prepared to approach advanced postures in a thoughtful, supportive way.

By the end of this course, you will have the tools and confidence to safely and effectively incorporate more advanced poses into your teaching and personal practice. You’ll be able to guide your students through arm balances, binds, backbends, forward bends, and standing poses, helping them explore their edge while fostering strength, flexibility, and alignment. Through intelligent sequencing and mindful instruction, you'll be prepared to take your teaching to the next level and offer more challenging, transformative practices for your students.
