Why I Created This Course
Â
For over 25 years, I’ve been studying both muscular and mental tension, first as a Massage Therapist and later as a Yoga Instructor. My journey began in Maui, where I had the privilege of working hands-on with professional athletes, learning about the body through touch and movement. Over the years, I’ve continued to expand my knowledge and practice, working with individuals of all activity levels, conditions, and needs.
Whether I’m offering a massage or teaching a yoga class, I approach each person with a personalized, hands-on method to release tension and meet their unique needs. Through this process, I’ve come to understand the delicate balance between Universal Instructions—those practices that generally work and are safe for most people—and Individual Instructions, which allow me to tailor techniques for people with diverse needs.
One question I’m frequently asked is: What postures or stretches can help release tension? I often find myself sharing foam rolling techniques, which combine postural shapes with massage, allowing individuals to target specific muscles. The beauty of foam rolling is that each person can control the pressure, adjusting it to their own comfort and benefit.
This led to the creation of a 2.5-hour workshop where I’ve had the chance to share these techniques with larger groups. The feedback has been incredible, and I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact these tools have, especially for those using them as active recovery in athletic training.
Now, I’ve brought these tools together into this course, designed for anyone who wants to experience relief from tension. It’s especially supportive for athletes looking for effective recovery strategies. The course includes a mini anatomy lesson so you can better understand how tension manifests in your body and how to address it.
Since muscular tension isn’t always purely physical, I’ve also incorporated breathing techniques, a gentle Yoga sequence, and mindfulness practices to help you slow down, connect with your body, and release tension at a pace that supports your overall well-being.
This course is not just about techniques—it's about finding relief, tuning into your body, and practicing self-care that helps you feel grounded, relaxed, and recharged.
Your Instructor:Â
Christy Naida Linson -ERYT500, LMT, Co-Owner of Prana Yoga Center and founder of Aligned Flow® began her Yoga practice in 1999 while in massage school in Maui, HI.
These two practices grew up together as she studied anatomy and physiology through her studies, tangibly through through massage therapy clients, and experientially through her own body in Yoga practice.
This combination later inspired her Yoga teaching style and the deep tissue and Thai massage work that she has offered to athletes of various sports throughout her practice, including 7 years with the NY Jets.
As she saw the incredible results of massage & Yoga as active recovery from running and her own gym workouts, she began to offer these tools to her clients with excellent results.
She is thrilled to offer this workshop in the hopes that it gives you the tools for a lifelong practice that relieves tension and helps to prevent injury.
